Dar es Salaam • December 2024. A full day of coaching during the PyCon Tanzania 2024 week, from installing Python to building a first Django app.
In December 2024, during the week of the fifth PyCon Tanzania, Django Girls returned with a free workshop in Dar es Salaam. Participants arrived with their laptops and left having written their first lines of Python and seen their own Django project come to life.
The day followed the Django Girls tutorial step by step. It started with installing Python and setting up an editor, then moved through Python basics, the command line and finally Django itself. Coaches from the Tanzanian Python community moved between tables, debugging alongside participants and explaining each concept in plain language.
Outside the coding sessions there was time to share stories over lunch, talk careers on the sofa and hear from coaches about their own paths into tech. The workshop ended with a room full of cheers and a group photo under the Django Girls and PyCon Tanzania banners.
